A Year of Gratitude

23.4.2014 – 23.4.2015

On the 23rd April 2014, I came across a post on a friend’s Facebook page. She had started doing a 30 day gratitude challenge and I was inspired to take it on and do it again myself. I had previously participated a few years earlier and remembering how much I enjoyed it and how flat I was currently feeling, I decided it was a good time to do it again.

By the end of the first week I noticed a subtle change was coming over me. I was looking forward to each day’s post, I was feeling a little bit more positive about my life and I was becoming aware of how negative my thought patterns had become over the last few years.

So I decided to extend the 30 day challenge to a full year and see if actively looking for something to be grateful for each day would change the way I approached anything in life. To my surprise and enormous relief, it did. It changed everything in my life, the way I think, feel act and react and in doing this I found some answers to questions I didn’t even know I had.

After completing the Year of Gratitude I was grateful to stop, however six months later I find myself missing it more than I thought I would. This blog is a combination of the posts I wrote during my first year of gratitude and a space for me to keep this going. I hope that in doing this I develop a lifetime attitude of gratitude.

In relation to the posts from ‘A Year of Gratitude’, some of the posts have additional notes added in italics. The full text from my Year of Gratitude can be found under the link at the top of this page. Each month is listed separately.
